  • Accounting and Information Systems MSc

    If you would like to develop an understanding of how modern information technology is best used to support the accounting activities within an organisation, this Accounting and Information Systems MSc course is ideal. It is designed to improve your knowledge and understanding of accounting, financial decision making, and the information systems that support and inform these activities.

    What will you study?

    After an induction programme introducing you to the Business School and the expectations and ethos of the course, you will go on to learn about the principal communications technologies available to an organisation and how to develop a framework for handling major issues in e-commerce. You will develop a clear understanding of current accounting practice, as well as technical management accounting skills. You will also examine strategic financial management issues.

    In addition, you will gain a solid foundation in web programming and develop strategies for the exploitation, management and implementation of internet and e-commerce applications. The consultancy project gives you hands-on experience of working on a live internet start-up project.

  • Business Information Technology MSc

    If you would like to integrate management and IT skills, prepare yourself for new developments in digital business, and equip yourself with knowledge highly relevant to these emerging technologies, this Business Information Technology MSc is ideal. It will enable you to bridge the gap between business and IT practitioners, ensuring you are fully conversant with the language of e-business/e-commerce and possess the transferable skills necessary to enhance your career opportunities.

    What will you study?

    After an induction programme introducing you to the Business School and the expectations and ethos of the course, you will go on to explore how current technologies are being used to provide more-effective management systems. You will gain an overview of what constitutes business information technology and will develop a detailed knowledge of the technology and issues in order to plan, design and predict new document management applications.

    You will also gain a solid foundation in practical web programming and related security issues. In addition, you will look at strategies for the exploitation, management and implementation of Internet and e-commerce applications. There will also be an opportunity to specialise via your elective choice and your dissertation.

    The consultancy project will develop your management consultancy skills through a live project, the results of which you and your team will present to a client. The dissertation will enable you to explore in depth a business information technology topic of your choice. Recent topics include customer relationship management (CRM) systems; consumer behaviour towards online shopping; information technology outsourcing; strategic alliances; web services; and business process management.   • Information Management and Knowledge Sharing MSc

    Start Dates: Part time: 2–3 years (January and September start dates)
    Full time: 1 year (September start date only)

    This course is taught jointly with the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Computing. It aims to give you the professional skills to help public sector organisations distil useful information from the mass of data available and, once they have that information, to get full value from it.

    What will you study?

    We aim to equip you to work with decision makers across the organisation, influencing and guiding them towards a better way of looking at information and knowledge. The course covers everything from comparing the nature of information and knowledge assets with traditional resources, such as money, people and plant, through to designing and building an effective information governance regime and ultimately developing an information strategy.

  • Information Technology for Business Management MSc

  • Intelligent Transport Systems and Services MSc

    This highly-practical course is taught jointly with the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Computing. It is ideal for those wishing to develop their skills in the rapidly-evolving science of transport management. It aims to provide contemporary knowledge and best practice for intelligent transport systems planners, suppliers, and their customers and clients.

    What will you study?

    The programme is broadly based around the information system infrastructures required by modern intelligent transport systems and services. It is particularly focused on intelligent transport systems and services in road and rail, and integration with other transport modes.

    Our industrial advisory panel has been closely involved in the development of this programme, to ensure that reflects current/future needs and best practice.

    The course is highly-practical and will feature real-world and work-based topics, examples and case studies. Shared core modules mean you benefit from cross-disciplinary discussions and collaborations.

  • International Supply Chain and Logistics Management MSc

    Mode of Delivery: Full-time

    Students on this International Supply Chain and Logistics Management MSc course are a chosen mix of people from the UK, mainland Europe and the rest of the world.
