New research explores the UK freelance workforce

Tuesday 12 July 2016

Professor John Kitching of Kingston Business School’s Small Business Research Centre has produced a new report examining the role of freelance workers in the UK economy.

Commissioned by the Association of Independent Professionals and the Self-Employed (IPSE), the research continues from work done in 2008, identifying trends arising since the global economic crisis of 2008–2009 and the subsequent upturn.

The report reveals that the UK's increasingly diverse freelance workforce is making a significant impact on UK finances, contributing an estimated £120–125billion to the economy in 2015.
