Biography

Babangida is a full time PhD candidate at Kingston Business School and prior to his educational engagement, he has worked in various capacity at the industry level. He holds several academic degrees from various universities. Babangida holds a Diploma in Accounting from University of Abuja, Nigeria, and a BA in Marketing from UCSI University Malaysia. Other post-graduate degrees obtained includes MSc. Business Information Systems Management from Middlesex University London, MBA International Business from Cardiff Metropolitan University, and a Master of Research in Business and Management from Kingston University London.

Doctoral Details

Mapping the flow of money from London venture capital (VC) firms by aggregating the amount of London VC funds invested in companies outside London but domiciled within the UK vs Non-London VC funds investing in other UK companies. This sets to determine how much money is invested in quantitative terms and examine if there is a pattern of investment in terms of syndication. The next phase aims to determine the impact of London VC funds as well as non-London VC funds on the performance of the portfolio companies in the UK by taking the following variables into consideration; exit, employment growth, sales, and profitability. The cross-border side of the study shall determine the impact of London VC fund vs non-UK VC fund on the performance of portfolio companies by adopting the same variables used at the cross-regional aspect of the research.

Work Experience

Babangida's professional skillsets cuts across business analysis, business development, project management, and consulting. With over ten years of work experience, he has worked in Africa, South-East Asia, and the UK. He works within the capacity of hourly paid lecturer and also as a research assistant at Kingston University, London. He had previously worked in the capacity of assistant procurement manager, business analyst, a consultant, an implementation specialist, and an admin officer. He is diverse and knowledgeable on international projects; prominent amongst his recent involvement is a European Union-funded project INNOGROW (Innovation Entrepreneurship for Increased Employability, New Business Creation and Economic Growth) that involves five countries (UK, Spain, Greece, Romania, and Turkey). He had also worked as a researcher on a World Bank-funded project that sets to establish three Special Economic Zones in East Africa.
