Connecting Creativity and Business Group
Connecting Creativity and Business group promotes a series of research events which investigate the concept of intermediation in the creative industries. Convened by Dr Catherine Morel, Director of the MA Creative Industries programme at Kingston University, and in collaboration with Designersblock, Connecting Creativity and Business brings together professional and academic speakers who are influential in their fields to share their experiences and insights but also to discuss and debate the roles, shapes and activities of intermediaries in the Creative Industries today.
Past Research Events
‘Culturepreneurs’ - 26th May 2011, Cubic Theatre, London Transport Museum, Covent Garden, London
In 1999 art critics, Simon Ford and Anthony Davies predicted that a new generation of hybrid professionals would emerge: ‘culturepreneurs’ who would package and market culture to a range of clients, and help create the new information economy by selling access to social and cultural networks.
Culturepreneurs are now a reality and are vital intermediaries in the creative Industries. But the term culturepreneur is still an open research concept, and this event was intended to further define it. Through real case studies, the event aimed to discuss some of the characteristics attached to people who can be regarded as culturepreneurs today.
