Biography

Rosemary is a senior researcher in the Small Business Research Centre, Lecturer in the Department of Strategy, Marketing & Innovation; and Course Director of the MA/PGDiploma in Management at Kingston Business School, London. Her research interests are entrepreneurship; corporate entrepreneurship; innovation; and organisational behaviour. In collaboration with the University of Seville Spain, Rosemary is undertaking a national evaluation of enterprise education in Spain, using her Attitudes to Enterprise Test (ATE).  The ATE Test measures young people’s attitudes towards characteristics associated entrepreneurship, and Kingston Business School oversees the collection of an international dataset involving 15 countries.  Her publications have appeared in leading journals such as Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice, International Review of Entrepreneurship, and Education & Training. In 2004 Rosemary gave a presentation on her work at the United Nations Economic Commission Working Party on Youth Entrepreneurship in Geneva, Switzerland. Rosemary is also carrying out research into small firms’ use of social media.

 

Rosemary ran her own management consultancy for six years and was contracted by the UK’s Department for Trade and Industry (now Department for Business Innovation & Skills), to run the Enterprise Roadshow from 1991 – 1996. The Roadshow visited towns and cities all over England giving advice to approximately 600 business owners and aspiring business owners each year.  Rosemary also ran the Women’s Enterprise Bus in Scotland during 1990.

Rosemary's expertise is in entrepreneurship and innovation. 

Research Interest(s)

Rosemary has interests in organizational behaviour,  entrepreneurial behaviour, enterprise education, and corporate entrepreneurship. She has carried out evaluations of enterprise education programmes using a range of psychometric measures and techniques. Rosemary has also worked on a wide range of projects in the small business field including the impact of information and communication technology; regulation; and tax credits on small firms.

Teaching

 

Rosemary is the Course Director for the MA/PGDIp in Manangement; module leader for two undergraduate modules: Enterprise in Society and Innovation; and has taught research methods at undergraduate and post-graduate level.
