Hamish studied Economics at the University of Southampton before embarking on a career in investment banking. He has 20 years of capital markets experience gained working for Nationsbank (now part of Bank of America), WestLB and as head of international sales for the investment banking unit of SanPaolo-IMI, the Italian banking group. Hamish has worked on many capital raising programmes for large European corporations as well as for sovereign and supranational agencies. He has very broad knowledge and experience across the spectrum of debt and equity fund raising techniques as well as in derivatives and asset securitization.
After studying full time for an MBA at Kingston Business School (passing with distinction), Hamish is now a director and global head of financial markets learning and development at Barclays Capital based in London. In addition to structuring and delivering internal learning and development programmes worldwide, he delivers programmes for Barclays Capital to external audiences including bank clients and other stakeholders.
Outside work, Hamish is a keen cyclist which he has combined with fundraising for children’s charities in the developing world. He has organized and undertaken sponsored cycling events in Asia and West Africa. Hamish is married to Fenella and has 3 children, Rupert, Ellie and Imogen.
